Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career working as a TV and radio reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell joined CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was promoted to Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent by 1988. Mitchell became the the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. She served on an audience for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell started covering for the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. She covered many notable reports, including weapons control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
